As a new kind of suspension bridge, and because of its graceful appearance,convenience in choosing bridge location and good economic benefits, self-anchoredsuspension bridge has made an appeal in field of engineering and has become acompetitive solution in middle span bridges in cities. From the document that hasexisted, although long-span self-anchored suspension bridge has been widely used,however, due to complexity of its structure, the theory of its design and constructionneed to further improve. In this paper, Tao Hua Yu Huang He River Bridge, aself-anchored suspension bridge with the main span of406m, is an example for theanalytic solution of dynamic behavior and seismic response..The main research workcovers the following aspects:(1) Discuss the analysis method of seismic response of long-span self-anchoredsuspension bridge and evaluate various computing methods of the seismic response.(2) The space finite element model of the whole bridge is established based onMidas/civil2012. Dynamic performance for the long-span self-anchored suspensionbridge are calculated. And the impacts of the rise-span ratio, degree of dead load setand the stiffness on the dynamic performance of a finished bridge are also analyzed.(3) According to the design response spectrum of Tao Hua Yu Huang He RiverBridge, following the fortifying demand of two-level seismic resistance, under theeffect of two earthquake earthquake probability E1and E2, the seismic response ofTao Hua Yu Huang He River Bridge is analyzed by the Response Spectrum Method.Five calculation conditions, which are the longitudinal earthquake, the transverseearthquake, the vertical earthquake, the longitudinal plus vertical earthquake, andtransverse plus vertical vibration are considered.(4) With the improved El-Centro wave as the ground motion input, time-historyanalysis is done on the no-pile model of Tao Hua Yu Huang He River Bridge and acomparison is made with the computing result of Response spectrum method.Discussion on the limitations of Response spectrum method on anti-seismic analysisof long-span self-anchored suspension bridge is made, which is followed by the study of the influence of the traveling wave effect on seismic response of long-spanself-anchored suspension bridge.
