Soil nailing technology is widely used in our country. Since more than ten yearsimplementation of Technical specification for retaining and protection of buildingfoundation excavation(JGJ120-99),due to the Rankine’s earth pressure lineardistribution is unreasonable and the formula has strict applicable conditions inprocedure, which has lead to many designs do not match with the measured. TheRankine’s earth pressure linear distribution is modified in Technical specification forretaining and protection of building foundation excavation(JGJ120-2012),thedistribution rule is changed, but the sum of earth pressure is invariability. Earthpressure adjustment coefficient has a certain local area and which have many impactparameters. The lateral soil pressure and related problems of the new discipline weremainly studied in this paper.Firstly, the mechanism, design theory and construction requirements of soilnailing were introduced in this paper. Several kinds of typical soil nailing wall lateralearth pressure distribution patterns were listed, and what kind of soil pressuredistribution model is more reasonable were discussed. Through analyze the originalcode formula derivation process and points out its disadvantages, using staticequilibrium method another formula were deduced. A simple numerical exampleshows that the original code formula has great limitations.Secondly, the nature of soil nailing wall supporting structure was expounded bythe simplified incremental method. Emphatically point out that the lateral earth pressureis closely related to the construction process. The adjustment coefficient of earthpressure is deeply analyzed in the new procedure and the changing rule of jisobtained. The influence of soil property parameters, the set of soil nailing andoverload were respectively analyzed, the value rule of bis obtained.Finally, use the new procedure design a soil nailing wall. The results show thatthe appropriate value of bcan make a design more reasonable after comprehensiveconsider the parameters. So the value of bis particularly important.
