Nearly three decades, China has a fast economic growth and population problembecomes more prominent. Rapid urbanization needs more infrastructures. Manycomplicated high-rise buildings are built in seismic fortified area and some of thembecome city symbolic constructions. Shear wall is a basic lateral force-resistingmember, but in many cases, traditional RC shear wall cannot meet engineeringrequirements. Studies on double steel plate-concrete composite shear wall show goodperformance, but researches on double steel plate-concrete composite shear wall whichcan be used in high-rise civil building are not much. Steel plate concrete compositewall is a new kind lateral force-resisting member and has been just preliminarilystudied. Concerning this issue, main works and results of this dissertation are asfollows:1. A new double steel plate-intersect studs-concrete composite shear wall wasproposed and three series of experimental researches were carried on, which includeintersect studs test, steel plate-intersect studs-concrete interation experiment andquasi-static test of double steel plate-intersect studs-concrete composite shear walls.2. Twelve tensile tests and twelve shear tests on intersect studs were performed. The tests results reveal the force-transfering mechanism and deformation mechanismof intersect studs and can be foundation of the following experiments.3. Axial compressive loading tests of6composite wall specimens were carriedout, and ABAQUS software was also employed as an assistant tool for analysis. Testresults indicate that intersect studs could effectively connect steel plate and infilledconcrete, these two parts can work together well. Compressive strength anddeformability of concrete are improved because of lateral constraint by double steelplate, and out-of-plane buckling of steel plate is also suppressed.4. Quasi-static tests of7double steel plate-intersect studs-concrete compositeshear walls and a RC shear wall were conducted to investigate the structuralmechanism and typical failure modes. Bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility and energydissipation were analyzed. The results indicate that double steel plate-intersectstuds-concrete composite shear walls have good bearing capacity, ductility and energydissipation capacity, and are convenient to construct. The proposed composite shearwall is a good choice as the lateral force resistant member of high-rise buildings.
