Flood sluice is the main release structure of low-water-head hub, in the process ofdesigning the hub buildings, simulating the flow pattern of flood sluice discharge accuratelyplays a decisive role in ensuring the rationality of designing shape and safety of workingproject.Physical model test, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation are main methods ofresearch on release structures. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of computertechnology and the updating of numerical method, fast speed, low cost and completeinformation etc, these advantages of numerical simulation gradually appear. More and morewater resource researchers both at home and abroad have paid attention to it.In this paper, with Huang Feng Hydropower Station as the object of the research, simulating the flow of flood sluice by FLUENT software. Using standard k-ε turbulence toclosure Reynolds numerical model equations, a fluid volume fraction method (VOF) trackingfree surface, tetrahedral meshing unstructured grid, and meshing compactly in rapid changesof flow, applying SIMPLE algorithm for pressure correction. The result contains dischargecapacity of flood sluice, pattern of flow, elevation of free surface, velocity field, pressure fieldand so on.Finally, contrasting hydraulic model test results with the simulated results, we canfind that they coincide well with each other. It indicates that the adopted model and methodfor numerical simulation is correcte.
