The word “energy dissipation by trajectory jet” refers to that high-velocity flow waterwas flipped into the air by flip bucket and then collide or spread in the sky to dissipate energy.But due to the spillway outlet flow rate is generally high, it always make the surface of flipbucket produce a serious of problems such as negative pressure, cavitation erosion,besidesit’s hard to predict the distribution or the shape of the nappe. Therefore, it’s necessary toresearch spillway tunnel and its flow field information in outlet.The study usually make progress by means of physical model test and numericalsimulation methods. In recent years, the continuous improvement of performance and rapiddevelopment of computational fluid dynamics, they both make numerical simulationtechnology a important way to study the hydraulic characteristics of spillway tunnel. On basisof previous research, this paper combined with the physical model test results of left spilltunnel of Sanzuodian hydraulic project in Chifeng city. By analyzing and calculating thenumerical model, the following result were achievedDiscrete zone into mesh by Finite volume method(FVM). Deal free surface by VOFmethod. Using Octree algorithm to generate unstructured grid in ICEM; generate structuralgrid through the creation of topological block structure with approximate geometric models.Use Realizable k-Epsilon turbulence model;, use geometric reconstruction to build freesurface and simulate the spill tunnel flow in three dimension.The simulate results show that flux, flow pattern, pressure distribution and flow rate fitwell with the measured value in physical model, which presents that numerical simulationmodel is reasonable, properly, the result can be provided for the design and application ofpractical engineering technical support.Analyze and calculate different plan for the outlet of flip bucket, which contain flowpattern, velocity distribution and pressure distribution. The result show that ligulate flipbucket is better.To construction discharge and energy dissipation problems, physical model test has itsirreplaceable advantages, numerical simulation can be used as an auxiliary tool to expand the test data, to provide complete flow information.
