Substation equipment condition maintenance is a core technology to realizeintelligent substation, and the direction of development of power system equipmentmaintenance. Substation equipment on-line monitoring is the core of conditionmaintenance, plays an important role in the operation of the power system.Firstly analyzes the necessary for on-line monitoring system and the currentsituation of monitoring device. Summarizes the shortcomings of current monitoringdevice and the problems about difficult interoperability and data sharing in case ofthe various communication protocols. The functional testing is necessary based onthe analysis the shortage of substation equipment on-line monitoring system.Overview system functional testing based on substation’s function strafied andcontent. Through the Analysis of functional testing that the testing platform is usedto debugging instrument and the device for signal-input source and analysis, afunctional testing model based on IEC61850is presented which will contribute tothe effectiveness and equivalences of the testing.The demand of IEC61850network communication performance grows higher,due to the edevice’s complexity and a huge flow of sampling data. Many functionsare added to the switch, made the traditional network architecture complex, andcan’t effectively enhance performance. The current network structure of substationequipment on-line monitoring system cannot meet the communication requirements.Then the OpenFlow protocol standard is included to the existing on-line monitoringsystem. The new network architecture based on OpenFlow is described in detail, andtest the performance of OpenFlow switches used Agilent N2X. The simulationresults show that the OpenFlow switches have better performance than the IndustrialEthernet switches of the measures. It greatly improves the efficiency of the networkcommunication. Substation communication network dynamic simulation model isestablished through OPNET Modeler, the performance about the process layernetwork of the substation communication network is analyzed through simulation.
