As the continuous development of the living standard, the products, which only pay attention to the fundamental function, have become insatiable. Not only the excellent property, but also the artistic-formed production playing an important in the market requirement. The aesthetics shape will directly lead to difficulty of the processing, and then the complex shape will be composed by lots of free-form surfaces, however, the traditional operating method will be restricted by the demand of the shape quantity. With the development of the world, the creativity and efficiency of the product, the reverse engineering technology have become inevitable.In the industrial field, the RE technology combines3D scan and3D print technology accelerate the speed of the product manufacture. The3D digital model is produced by the3D scan technique of the real object and the clay model and the data from the surface reconstruction formative software. All of these data will be used in the following CAM/CAE and manufactured products.In the scanning survey field, the type of the scanner and the principle of measurement are introduced, and then the handheld3D laser scanner, which used in the experiment, is focus on analyzed in this paper. The harvest of this paper is that the optimal scanning sequence will affect the result of the optimal operation method and the accurate of the data.When using the RE technology, the bid size of the point cloud data will influence the quality of the surface fitting and the compatibility of software CAD. This thesis analyze the basic theory and character of curve and hook face, and also summarize the difference between the Bezier surface fitting NURBS surface fitting and the advantages of the NURBS method. The point cloud conduction shows the advantages of the reverse engineering technology, and also put into the use of the NURBS. The optimal fitting method, which summarized in this paper, could show a high-quality hook face and also show an excellent compatibility with the CAD software.The RE technology also plays an important role in the surface reconstruction, which directly save time and cost of the surface reconstruction. The simplification and accuracy of the data could be ensured in data splice and data partitioning. Data recognition and extraction, which include outline extraction in operation process, become more important in the surface reconstruction. The result of this paper is that the accurate recognition and extraction of the outline and character could enhance the precision of the surface rebuild and finally achieve the innovative design of the product.
