Our country vigorously has constructed ultra-high voltage transmission lines in recent years. High voltage insulation technology of the safe operation of the transmission line is crucial. And the high voltage electrical equipment insulation has always been the emphasis and difficulty of the research. In the electric power industry, air is often used as dielectrics. Complex reasons cause gas discharge. As the early stage of discharge, streamer discharge is a good starting point, which draws more and more attention. Along with the computer operation ability rapid ascension, the numerical simulation to study the gas discharge process has gradually become a hot spot.Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign about streamer discharge, a streamer discharge model is established, which is based on fluid mechanics, using weak form of galerkin of the weighted residual method to solve the model. And simulation results have been made the analysis and verification.The main work is as follows:(1) The research status of numerical simulation of streamer discharge at home and abroad is understood, and the selected topic background and significance of this paper are analyzed. (2) How to apply the theory of gas discharge to the continuity equation to establish streamer discharge model based on fluid mechanics is introduced, and the physical meaning of the related parameters in the process of discharge is analyzed.(3) A streamer discharge simulation model is proposed, and the weighted residual method of weak form of Galerkin algorithm to solve the established streamer discharge model is introduced. The process of modeling and simulation based on the finite element software is completed, and microscopic parameters and the electric field distribution in the process of discharge are concluded.(4) Based on10mm short rod-board air gap model, the applied voltage polarity and head of radius of influence on streamer discharge are studied, and a theoretical analysis is made.
