Bad results such as equipment utility factor reduction, large voltage error andamount of energy waste, will be produced due to the power factor reduction and theharmonic pollution caused by the wide use of the non-linear load in the power grid. So itis badly in need of taking the reactive compensation and the harmonic suppression.This thesis takes the reactive compensation and the harmonic suppression as thestudy objects, the primary work and achievements obtained in the thesis are as follows.(1) The cause, the harm, and the control mechanism of the reactive compensationand the harmonic suppression are firstly analyzed, offering a theory reference for thefurther study.(2) Several reactive compensation methods and harmonic suppression means areproposed based on calculating the harmonic current and the power loss. The powerquality is improved by using the dynamic harmonic cancellation equipments and theactive power filter.(3) Finally, the power quality of Haiyang distribution network is investigated.Moreover, the harmonic suppression effect of the proposed method is verified bycomparing the sensitive data before and after using the reactive compensation and theharmonic suppression equipments. It shows that the method has a good economicalefficiency and feasibility.
