Power plant is an important part of power system, and voltage is an important indexto evaluate the quality of the power plant electrical energy. Good voltage level is not onlysafe and stable operation of the power system to ensure, but also to reduce power lossand improve the economic efficiency of power grid has very important significance.Automatic voltage control system (AVC) is an important means of reactive power andvoltage control, is to further improve the system voltage level, to ensure grid security,stability, quality, economy and effective measures. This article has carried on thefollowing work from several aspects, such as the basic principle of automatic voltagecontrol (AVC) system, the establishment of the system, the realization of the system.(1) The article analyzes the study status of automatic voltage control system (AVC)in the world, and the current status of application of the automatic voltage control (AVC)system in the power generation companies. It provides the basis to get the necessity ofthe application and prospects for AVC technology in zhangshan electric power company.(2) Based on the working principle of automatic voltage control system (AVC), andaccording to actual needs to control power of the company get a variable, it analyzes themechanism of automatic voltage control system and power plant side design theory of theautomatic voltage control, and lay a theoretical foundation for the subsequent work.(3) It analyzes the design of automatic voltage control system in zhangshan electricpower company. The main contents include power generation company’s functionalrequirements and the design of the system’s overall structure and scheme. Then the articlecreates a database based on three paradigms, and applying the idea of modularization tostudy the AVC system platform for zhangshan electric power company.(4) According to the practical running result, this paper introduces the debuggingprocess of the AVC system platform and each interface and function in the process ofsystem operation under the condition of normal operation in in zhangshan electric powercompany. Through the actual test data show that this system effectively improves thevoltage qualification rate and reduce the network loss, reduce running personnel workingstrength, and obtains the good economic and social benefits.
