With the rapid development of our country’s urban subway, the contradiction between the vibration induced by subway and the demand of environmental protection is becoming prominent increasingly. Moreover, vibration control is also a key technical problem to be solved for the development of subway. Due to the trains of Chengdu subway line2running through the underneath of Chengdu Museum, vibration caused by trains spreading through the surrounding strata will be transmitted to the museum floor through the foundation, which will have an adverse effect on the museum building.Based on the background of Chengdu Museum, the influences of the vibration induced by subway on the Chengdu Museum building were studied in the paper. The main contents included:1. Based on the basic theory, the principles of vibration induced by subway were studied, including the generation of vibration, propagation characteristics of vibration wave in the soil medium and vibration of the building caused by the wave;2. According to the field measurement for vibration response of the museum under subway excitations, vibration acceleration response of the ground and each floor of the building were measured. Then the propagation law of vibration near the field and the vibration characteristics of the museum building were obtained by the analysis of the measured data using the way of one-third octave;3. Combined with some related parameters, a three-dimensional unified finite element model for "tunnel-surrounding soils-board-superstructure" was established. The vibration acceleration responses of the museum building were calculated by the use of numerical simulation analysis. According to the vibration control standard and the measured data, the results were evaluated;4. In order to prevent earthquake in high intensity zone, the isolation bearings were set at the bases in Chengdu Museum project. Using numerical simulation analysis approach, the vibration reduction effects of the cantilever structure near the tunnel and isolation bearings at the bases on superstructure were compared.The results showed that:the vibration level, vertical and lateral acceleration peak of overground part and underground part of the museum satisfied the proposed standard; if set up a33m span cantilever near the tunnel, the museum would have good damping effect, however the method of installing isolation bearings at the base plate had no obvious damping effect.
