Abstract:Polarimetric interferometric SAR (PolInSAR), which combines interferometry SAR and polarimetry SAR, is a new technology of microwave remote sensing. PolInSAR is sensitive to the physical property and height of ground. With the obtainability of high resolution data, Polarimetric SAR interferometry has great adventures and advantages. This paper mainly surveys the polarization orientation angle effects on PolInSAR data, especially for interferometric phase and scattering phase center of different scattering mechanisms. And the main work of the paper lies in the follows:(1) We analyze the scattering characteristic of building by model making and real SAR data to help us understand the behavior of building in radar image. Then we show the common four scattering models, they are direct scattering model, double-bounce scattering model, volume scattering model and helix scattering model, respectively.(2) Interferometric SAR with the polarization orientation angle compensation has been developed in this paper, and this paper also deduce the interferometric phase after orientation angle compensation. Then we assess the difference between traditional InSAR and polarization orientation angle compensated InSAR by theory and test analysis. And the results indicate that the new method improves the accuracy of phase.(3) The theory of PolInSAR model decomposition is realized and applied to identify phase center of different scattering mechanisms. In this exercise, we propose to apply the polarization orientation angle to PolInSAR model decomposition for the wrong estimation of scattering mechanisms. The orientation angle compensated PolInSAR decomposition overcome the wrong estimation of phase centers and scattering power. We also evaluate the power and phase contribution of polarization orientation angle compensation.(4) Based on the polarization orientation angle compensation, we make use of the interferometric phase and scattering phase center to acquire the height of building, and to rebuilt their3-D model. In this test, we validate the above theory and explore new applications of PolInSAR technology, at the same time.
