ABSTRACT:Flange connection is the main form in steel structure. There are a variety of flanges and the most widely used on steel tube tower are galvanism flange, non-stiffened flange and hubbed Flange. Galvanism flange and non-stiffened flange are mainly used in transmission towers so far in China. With the rapid development of long-distance, large-capacity transmission technology, traditional flanges cannot increasingly satisfy the needs of projects. Hubbed Flange has the advantages of good overall stiffness, less welding work and high processing and installation efficiency. Hence hubbed Flanges are gradually used in transmission towers in recent years. However, due to its infancy, there are few theoretical analysis and experimental study in domestic. Therefore, it is necessary to study on hubbed Flange. In this thesis, the finite element software ANSYS is applied; finite element based on experimental data is modeled; finite element calculation and experimental results are analyzed to ensure the accuracy of the finite element model. With the help of the finite element software, the effects of hubbed flange neck slope, Flange plate thickness, the flange neck type, bolt arrangement, bolt pre-tightening force, and the diameter and docking on load-carrying capacity are studied. And then the value suggestions is put forward. Based on the calculations of non-stiffened flange, combined with the finite element analysis data and related theoretical studies, the calculation formula of hubbed flange will be proposed. At last, reference and advice about the usage of hubbed flange in transmission tower will be presented in the thesis.
