Design of a control system for DC-DC converters is analyzed to improve transient response of output voltage. Controlling of DC-DC converters involves complexities because of switching property in their structure which further leads to non-linearity. PID controller is used to enhance output characteristics of DC-DC converters. Optimization algorithms like firefly and cuckoo are used with combination of PID controller to achieve best performance in transient response. State space average method is used for the analysis including parasitic effects. Design and analysis is done on Matlab/Simulink environment. Simulation results are compared with classical optimization technique such as genetic algorithm to ensure the validity of proposed combination of different performance indices for a PID control method.
