Vibration measurement is one of the main basis for equipment quality evaluation, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of wind turbine gearbox. In this paper, Wind turbine gearboxes are taken as the main object for studying vibration characteristics of gearbox and typical failure mode, the vibration performance with measured signal from50operating wind turbines of a wind farm in northwest region in order to give out the evaluative criteria for wind turbine gearboxes. By referencing existing international and domestic wind turbine gearbox vibration criteria, the evaluative criteria from measured vibration signals are provided, that could be used as the basis for establishing vibration criteria for wind turbine gearbox. The main contents are as follows:(1) Using measured signals from50double-fed wind turbines of the type W2000the gearbox vibration performance is researched. The trends of gearbox vibrations on different measured location of each wind turbine gearbox are researched. The time domain and frequency domain performance of the gearbox vibration are analyzed, that establishes the reference for equipment quality evaluation, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of wind turbine gearbox.(2) Aiming at the strong change of vibration condition of double-fed wind turbine gearbox in operating, the parameters which affect the gearbox vibration condition are researched such as the wind condition, rotor speed, etc. It is found that the vibration levels in a majority of measured points increase with the rotor speed. But the vibration of some parts is sensitive to rotation speed. The vibration increase obviously in a certain rotation speed and resonance phenomenon occurs.(3) Through the statistical analysis for the features of the50wind turbine gearboxes vibration, referencing existing international and domestic wind turbine gearbox vibration criteria, of which VDI3834criterion is the main reference, the alarm and risk threshold that are proper for the wind turbine gearbox of the type of W2000are calculated. And the calculated values are compared with that of VDI3834criterion.
