Arrester as an important electrical component is widely used in electric power system, mainly used for over-voltage protection of substation and transmission line equipment.On the maintenance of power lightning arrester in test also comprises the infrared temperature measurement, live testing and online monitoring method. Because it has no need of the electric equipment outage, the live testing in the majority of power enterprises has been widely carried out, understand and evaluate the status of equipment in the development of condition based maintenance strategy, an important technology and maintenance tasks extend equipment outage test cycle. But because the accurately measured lightning arrester leakage of various methods and instrument current key data-the high resistive current of system voltage, test conditions, peripheral equipment requirements, and is not well carried out in the actual production process. In this paper, the history and current arrester testing methods systematically, according to the actual situation of the production unit makes a practical analysis of various methods; according to the test technology and equipment manufacturing technology level in recent years, the design of lightning arrester operation to carry out hardware conditions, puts forward suggestions on the grid unit arrester D maintenance strategy.The conclusion of this analysis and research is of great reference value and guiding significance for lightning arrester maintenance strategy for power grid operation unit.
