Being different from general civil buildings, the safety performance of nuclear power plant structure under extreme earthquakes is very important, so the seismic analysis of nuclear power structures is imperative. However, seismic analysis considering the effect of fluid-structure interaction is particularly complicated. The passive feature is characteristic of AP1000nuclear power technology which is introduced from Westinghouse. The design considers both severe accident prevention and mitigation measures. The Passive Containment Cooling System (PCS) is the ultimate heat sink of AP1000nuclear power plant; moreover, it is also the key to ensure the safety of nuclear power facilities. To ensure that the Passive Containment Cooling System can achieve the desired result of design under accident conditions, it is crucial to evaluate the performance of the PCC WST and shielding structure under earthquake which may pose considerable loads on structures and cause great nuclear accident.Base on the characteristics of the AP1000PCC WST, the water with free surface in the water tank will slosh when the earthquake occurs. The system belongs to nonlinear system for the reason that nonlinear characteristic of sloshing phenomenon. For such seismic problem with strong Fluid-Structure Interaction, at present there are many solutions in the world, such as Wilson method, semi-analytical method, the finite element method, etc. However, the methods mentioned above do not take into account the strong nonlinear phenomenon. In order to get a more accurate solution we must consider the influence of nonlinear factors. However, the nonlinear studies mainly focus on the numerical simulation and lack experimental verification.Shaking table test is the most important and direct method of studying structural seismic performance, it is also one of the most important test equipment in Engineering seismology. Based on the AP1000PCCWST and Shielding Structures, an experimental model is established and the seismic test is carried out. By selecting three seismic waves to research the earthquake response of the water tank and water, this paper discusses the modal vibration characteristics of the experimental models and the dynamic characteristics of water sloshing and fluid-structure coupling system, which can provide reference for seismic analysis of nuclear power plant.
