Distrbution power application software is an important part of smart scheduling, and smart scheduling is an important technical methods to ensure the power grid safety, high quality, economic, and improve the reliability of power supply. With the expansion of the distribution networks scale and the continuous progress of smart grid construction, the computing performance of distrbution power application software, and the data sharing of heterogeneous databases have become increasingly prominent.ZeroMQ is an excellent message-oriented middleware which has been rapidly developed in recent years. It not only has good performance of large blocks of data communication, but also has good communication performance under high parallel occurrence. Meanwhile, ZeroMQ has many advantages, such as platform-independent, supporting most programming languages, interface easy to use, secondary development easily. Therefore, this paper selects the message-oriented middleware to build distribution power application software platform.According to the features of ZeroMQ and the demand of distributed computing platform, the paper designed a communication framework based on ZeroMQ from the perspective of scalability and robustness. It provides basic support for distribution computing platform, achieving a dynamic addition and deletion of service instances and executors. Also, it designed a simple and practical server parallel running mode. This model not only achieved the primary and backup servers, but also took the efficiency of server clusters into account, which makes the distribution computing platform has many features, such as high availability, scalablity, easy to deploy, easy to integrate. In order to meet the needs of data exchange of power application calculation, we designed a common message format for message transmission. The message format can support multiple message types, including control messages, compute data, etc. It has scalablity and parsing consistency characteristics, which can meet data transmission needs of all power application calculation. Every message is sent and received only once. And each frame is resolved individually.In this paper, the distribution communication framework is applied to development of the distribution network advanced application computing platform, which is integrated by some advanced application modules, including fault analysis, power flow, state estimation, loop closing analysis and Network reconstruction. Performance of the distribution framework has been verified by using CIM and SCADA data of power distribution network in JiNan. Experiments have shown that initialization time of whole section data is within two seconds, upgrate of the dynamic SCADA data can be completed within5milliseconds and computing time of the whole power flow decreases from45seconds to5seconds. The results have demonstrated that the proposed platform has better real time and performance of distributed computing. They also show the the feasibility of the distribution communication framework.
