Automotive body manufcturing is consist of stamping process、welding process、painting process,espceially stamping process play a very imporant role in quality ofautomotive manufcturing as the first process,body panel have large structure and complexshape,there are some quality defects which are prompt to happen like wrinkling andcracking, but it would be extending production period and increasing cost by repeating testin troditional.The soft ware of sheet metal forming has become a important tool by thedevelopment of CAE technology,it can not only predict the defects in formingprocess,analysis the reason which casue the defects,but also optimise the processparameters and profile parameters by combined with experimental design andmathematical optimization,it would improve the quality of sheet metal forming and haseffective guidance in body panel’s design and manufacturing.This article has mainly carried on the following several aspect work:1) The creation and development of the theory of body sheet metal forming、finiteelement algorithm and mathematical optimization are simply introduced.2) The vital elments which composed of technology of body sheet metal forming isintroduced and the theory of each elements is investigated.3) The characteristic of body panel is introduced,the reason which caused the qualitydefects and the method which would be used to eliminate defects are analysised.Forexample,using the numerical simulation in vehicle hood inner’s drawing forming,takinginvestigate the impact of wrinkling and crackling with binder force and drawbead andoptimising the parameters preliminarly.4) The theory and the characteristic of trimming and punching of body panel iselaborated.For example using the numerical simulation in fender’s multistep forming.5) By establish the orthogonal experiment,investgating the comparison of degree andthe analysis of significance that process parameters impact on fender’s formingquality.Process parameters are defined as the argument,forming’s evaluations are definedas the objective function,orthogonal experiment’s data is defined as the sample,it would getthe best value of objective function by optimising the process parameters by using thegenetic algorithms.
