Abscission and combination of automobile engine power are accomplished by theclutch which makes the automobile start smoothly and shift smoothly, and has overloadprotection function. So clutch is the key part to realize automatic transmission for AMTtransmission. Study clutch thermal characteristics is the AMT clutch research emphasis, atthe same time, the temperature in the clutch engagement process is strongly influenced bythe external environment and working condition itself, and if the work temperaturebetween clutch disc and pressure plate change, the surface friction coefficient also change,so it causes the clutch torque and the pressure plate stoke or pressure to change, the clutchcombination needs different engagement to complete control in different condition, thechange of clutch temperature take some difficult to the clutch torque control, so theresearch of clutch thermal characteristics is the core issue. Nowadays there are many studyachievements about clutch thermal characteristics, but many problems should be solved,this paper uses the finite element method (fem) and experiment method to study AMTclutch thermal characteristics.In this paper, based on the thermal characteristics of AMT clutch pressure plate andfriction plate, summarized the research status at home and abroad, expounded the thermalanalysis basic theory, and established physical model of AMT clutch thermalcharacteristics. Combining with the structure characteristics of AMT clutch pressure plateand friction plate, finite element analysis model about pressure plate and friction plate wereestablished, and the thermal boundary conditions of simulation analysis were determinedaccording to their working environment. The heat transfer way of heat conduction and heatconvection was considered, then using the finite element analysis software, temperaturerise characteristic of clutch pressure plate and friction plate which have different materialfriction pair were obtained under constant slipping work, and the transient temperaturefield of pressure plate and friction plate were got according to the temperaturecharacteristic simulation analysis on the pressure plate and friction plate. Based on thetemperature field of different material pressure plate and friction plate finite element modelwas simulated to get the influence about the different thermal physical parameters to thetemperature rise of the clutch friction pair, and the temperature rise curve and coefficient ofdifferent material pressure plate and friction plate were obtained.The clutch temperature rise and cooling characteristic was test using AMT clutch testbench, the experimental research of the pressure plate temperature rise and thermalproperties curves were obtained in the different combination displacement and different radial, different thickness test points, and the influence of different conditions on thepressure plate heat. Compare the finite element simulation analysis results with the testdata, the results show that the finite element analyses curve of clutch temperature rise andcooling have a good consistency with test curve.
