Xilankapu is one of the five traditional brocades. Though this kind of Tujia ethnic traditional art is mysterious and low-key, it represents ethnic customs of Xiangxi area the most. Through investigation and analysis of the situation of Xilankapu, the cultural meaning and unique artistic features in the design patterns, starting from the popular indoor soft equipment design nowadays, this thesis explores and analyzes the possibility of Tujia ethnic traditional and cultural, the obstacles in the development of Xilankapu and various types of problems after the integration in interior soft furnishings. The thesis focuses on the application of soft decoration in interior design, seeking the unique visual language formed in the process of Western Hunan provincial Xiangxi. Tujia ethnic aesthetic ideals and life attitudes and developing practical, competitive soft furnishings ornaments. By introducing Xilankapu, the ancient and fresh artistic elements, to the modern interior soft decorations development, fusing Xilankapu the unique traditional ethnic culture into the new interior design elements, creating a sort of soft decorations which contains Xilankapu style, it aims at drawing people’s attention to the development and heritage of Chinese indigenous ethnic culture.
