Excavator Form Symbolic Generated Method Research

With the rapid progress of modern society, the proceeding of urbanization became faster and faster, which caused the expansion of excavator product market. However, compared to similar products in the international market our products were lack of competitive, the reason is that conventional excavator design concentration on the application of high-technology and multi-application requirements which lead to a path ignoring the thought of product semiotics and research of product symbol formation.The symbol of excavator form can be a function and emotion carrier that improving the interaction between man, products and environment, thus we tried a way that was more human and more satisfying to the psychological needs of users in order to get rid of the cold mechanical excavator image. The research on symbolic form is a study on man-machine relationship that manifest human caring. In the future as the excavator product form design developed, the products combined original technology platform design method and symbolic form method will meet the highly integration of technology and art.In this paper, we studied the pattern of excavator symbolic form and constructed a model which contained the whole formation process of excavator symbolic, we also applied a new design method to the excavator product design. At last an actual case was used to demonstrate the feasibility of our research. The discussion involved in different aspects, such as symbolic modeling, material symbolic, symbolic color and principles of design. All whole study were based on the theory of semiotics design and used the production methods as starting point.
