Aqueduct as an important water structures, plays an important role in China’s agricultural and water conservancy projects. The liquid storage tank is used to store flammable, explosive or toxic medium, widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, aviation and other fields. Aqueduct structure and a liquid storage tank, the liquid storage structures have many similarities. Under strong earthquake,the internal liquid will produce great horizontal force on the wall,hydrodynamic pressure will make the wall deformation, resulting in strong coupling. If we ignore the dynamic effects of water, may cause the instability and failure of the entire structure. Therefore, under the action of earthquake, it is necessary to study contains a lot of water structure dynamic characteristics. However, establishing finite element model of large aqueduct and storage tanks more trouble some, higher requirements for computer configuration, the amount of data processing is also larger, designers tend to simplify the calculating methods. Therefore, a comparative analysis of the aqueduct and tank equivalent mechanical model with the dynamic finite element model time history results and applicable scope, it has important application value.In this paper, basing on the scaled finite element software ADINA and Matlab simulation analysis software, under the action of horizontal seismic excitation, to verify and evaluating the equivalent mechanical model of the aqueduct and storage tank.1, Under the level dynamic loading, with the single frame structure as an example, when the time step Δt is0.02s, Tn is Is, to verify the accuracy of Newmark-P integral method.2, To Comparative and evaluate analysis the equivalent mass and equivalent height parameters of equivalent mechanical model of the aqueduct. and liquid storage tank.3, Basing on the finite element software AIDNA, to verify the aqueduct with tank equivalent mechanical model on the accuracy of the frequency formula. Analysis of vibration characteristics of aqueduct and storage tank finite element model, the low order frequencies and modes are analyzed.4, Based on the simulation software Matlab, using the implicit Newmark-β integral method, the simulation analysis of the equivalent mechanical model of storage tank and aqueduct and. Under four kinds of ground motions, the mechanical model of simulation results are compared with the solution process of finite element model.
