Vacuum arc is a physical phenomenon when breaking the vacuum switch electricalcurrent generated, vacuum switch can reliably breaking current will depend on the success ofvacuum arc can be extinguished. Therefore, the study of the characteristics of vacuum arc isone of the most important research topics in the field of vacuum switching equipment. Dueto the complexity of the vacuum arc, the current process and the physical properties of thevacuum arc understanding is not perfect, this stage can be measured in part by theexperimental parameters and characteristics of vacuum arc, but it alone does not fully accessto important parameters and characteristics of vacuum arc experimentally difficult. Thereforealso need a reasonable theory and Simulation, especially the use of numerical simulationtechniques, through the establishment of an appropriate simulation model that can in-depthstudy of the relevant characteristics of vacuum arc, thus providing a theoretical basis for thedesign and manufacture of vacuum switch appliances.First, this paper analyzed the development of its current development model andvacuum arc vacuum arc magnetic field control technology, the establishment of a physicalmodel simulation vacuum arc longitudinal magnetic field of fluid dynamics. Studied theflow field and electromagnetic coupling, vacuum arc plasma ions and electrons collide witheach other and other complex cases, more comprehensive description of the importantparameters and regularity of vacuum arc plasma region. FLUENT computational platformfor secondary development, using VC++custom programming and custom macro function,completed the longitudinal magnetic field vacuum arc hydrodynamic Numerical solvingmathematical model.Simulation results show that the high current density non-uniformity of vacuum arcplasma, pressure, velocity and Mach number, maximum pressure and maximum plasmadensity in the plasma are present in the vicinity of the cathode, and the maximum speed ofthe plasma and the maximum Mach number is in the vicinity of the anode. The simulationstudy of vacuum arc plasma current density for different power shed open, revealing the sizeof the breaking current vacuum arc contraction have influence.
