The tank liquid level measurement is the main means of the oil storagetank measurement, the measuring accuracy is related to national interests andsecurity, and the online verification and calibration research for the radar level gaugehas special significance in the practical application. According to the level gaugeverification regulation, an online verification and calibration device aiming at largetanks for less than20m is designed in this paper. The designed system realizes theverification and calibration that is rapid and accurate of radar level gauges for largetanks.The present research status at home and abroad of verification and calibrationmethods on radar level gauge and their existing problems are analyzed, and pointedout that the shortage of current methods involving the limited application scale,thelong time measurement, and the low work efficiency, etc. According to the levelgauge verification regulation and the research basements that are at home and abroad,this paper proposes an online verification and calibration method for the large tankradar level gauge. The main contents and achievements of this research are asfollows:1.The merits and demerits of the verification and calibration methods of thecurrent mainstream level gauges are compared and analyzed, and according to thecharacteristics of large tank radar level gauge, the paper discusses the feasibilityabout the use of laser range finder and the reference board on the online verificationand calibration.2.According to the level gauge verification regulation, this paper design adevice based on laser range finder and reference plates which is used for the onlineverification and calibration of the large tank radar level gauge. Designed two devicesfor different tanks, one is a fixed device and another is a portable device. This canguarantee the accuracy of the verification and calibration, and improve the portabilityof the device, and to overcome the trouble of the traditional method of shipping thestandard device and the shortages of the verification and calibration on the field, and so on.3.According to the actual verification and calibration requirements, develop aset of procedure about online verification and calibration based on LabVIEW, anddesign variety of test works, including fixed and portable. It can implement thestorage and processing of the data, and generate reports quickly, etc.4.Simulation experiments are completed and the experimental results areanalyzed. We can take the portable device for an example, make the evaluation of itsuncertainty. Respectively using the GUM and the Monte-Carlo method on thecalculation and verification of the uncertainty. Ensure the accuracy and reliability ofthe calculation results.
