In recentyears, the construction of the city and scenic spot became larger and larger,a lot of covered bridges with different styles has been being built for their function andbeauty. As a combine of Chinese rich classical gardens and modern bridge technology, the modern covered bridge is a bold innovation and try, which can be more adapted tothe demand of modern society than the ancient bridge. However, there are three piecesof construction difficulty, which are large scale, complex function, and the complexrelationship between the bridge structure and the upper structure. At present, theresearch on the design of the modern covered bridge is still at a preliminary stage, where the influence of wind on the modern covered bridge is little. Because thewindward area of the bridge house is greatly increased, it is necessary to think about theinfluence of wind load on the safety of the bridge.Based on the engineering of the landscape covered bridge upon Qing Jianghe riverin Jian Men district in the county of Jian Ge, using the finite element software Midas toestablish the model, this paper made the internal force and deformation analysis of themain arch ring, columns, piers and other major members of the bridge in twocases, which are the bridge without wind loads, the whole in wind. Then this papercompares the influence of wind load to arch with that to covered bridges.Accordingly, this paper put forward relevant Suggestions, provide reference informationfor the design of similar bridge.According to what in the specification, the paper calculated the wind pressure, andthen wind load is loaded into the covered bridge, leading to the change that the mainstructural components (main arch ring, column, pier) shear force of y, torque, bendingmoment around the z axis were increased differently. The result is different underdifferent load combinations. It was found that the influence of wind on covered bridgesis significantly greater than that on arch bridge after comparison.Conclusively, when wedesign a arch bridge,we may not consider the effect of the wind, but when we design acovered bridge,we have to consider the combination of wind load to ensure the safetyand durability of the bridge.
