Barrier gate is the channel access management equipment which is designed for limiting thevehicles traveling on the road. With the development of national economy and people’s quality oflife, the number of cars in the cities also increases exponentially, and the barrier is used morewidely in highway toll stations, car parks, residential, enterprises, institutions and other places tomanage the vehicle’s access. As the two common driving equipment of the barrier systems, somedisadvantage of DC motors and AC asynchronous motors limit their application in the barriersystems in some extent, and therefore proposed a set of the DC motors and AC motors thoseadvantages in a more stable performance and higher reliability brushless DC motor as a dragdevice Barrier system.In this paper, brushless DC motor is the main object of study, according to its basiccomponents and working principle, a brushless DC motor driver was designed base on MC33035,MC33039, MPM3003and their peripheral circuits. According to the test of the driver board, wecome up with the optimal control method of Brushless DC motor, and the drive test board canachieve the brushless DC motor’s control of starting, commutation, positive inversion, braking,speed,and the closed loop speed.Combined with brushless DC motor drives, a barrier controller is designed with themicrocontroller STC51playing the role as the control core. Constructing the speed measurementand LCD display circuit,the DC power supply circuit with output continuously adjustable, faultlocation circuit, pulse6frequency multipalication circuit, the motor’s phase current detectioncircuit, the processing circuit when barrier meets resistance, and the RS-485circuit communicatewith PC, four stalls button include0.8s,1s,2s,4s and complete the relevant control designprocess.Through the debugging of the hardware circuit and related procedures, we achieve themeasurement of Brushless DC motor’s speed, the speed’s showed on LCD; the communicationbetween the MCU and PC in RS-485; locating the fault accurately and outputting the fault code;barrier returns immediately when meeting resistance; the simulation of ground sense coil tomake gate raise and drop, the rising control of barrier gate based on the gears of0.8s,1s,2s,4sof the brushless DC motor with no load;angle control of the barrier gate.Through the on-line debugging of the brushless DC motor driver, controller of barrier gate,the brushless DC motor, the barrier Gate, the rising control of the barrier gate based on4gearsand dropping control have been finished. Because of the current of the manufactured motor’s not increasing when barrier gate meeting with resistance, pulse counting method has been applied indealing with the barrier gate’s meeting with resistance,the use of the method makes it happenthat barrier gate returns when it meets with resistance.Finally the design and fabrication of PCBplate has been completed.
