Architectural Design Based On The Function Of Culture

The emergence of architecture with the purpose of human needs, meanwhile, the formation of culture on account of man’s dawn. Architecture and culture has a natural connection. As an emotional building, both has its own internal cultural connotation and reflects the ideas and vision of people. In consequence of different areas with different people, so these people create and generate there own unique culture and living visage step by step. It’s known that each special culture has its own existence value, and every culture this world should worthy of respect. Therefor, the architectural design should reach and respond to certain culture, similarly, the essence of architectural implications also should be discussed and researched from the dimensions of culture.Yunnan, with profound cultural heritage, its cultural traits are multicultural and multinational. Whatever the ethnic culture bred by the diversity of ethnic composition; or the earth culture composed by the ancestor and natural creation of this magical land; more or the urban culture with a long history and deep content, concurrently meets the development of the times, all of them are the important components of cultural characteristics in Yunnan. However, the current global culture context has crossed the boundaries of time and space, as a result, Yunnan also inevitably involved in it. Likewise, the architectural design here will be influenced by the various kinds of the creative ideological trends and the technical improvement from the the global culture context as well. Hence, in order to maintaining the vitality of culture,here we discuss the relationship and the interaction between the cultural features and architectural design in Yunnan has its own special meaning.This dissertation choose the angle of the function of culture to research the correlation between architecture and culture not only introducing a new concept and using a brand new visual in scanning the rationality of creating building,but also a new appreciation for the widespread use of design strategy. Around the aspects of the ethnic culture, the earth culture and the urban culture, this thesis selects some relevant and typical creative practice about museums in Yunnan under a deeply discussion, at the same time, combines other cases from the architects both at home and abroad into a relative analysis, as to try to dig the different tactics of architects in interpreting different culture, and explore the general functions which the culture play.It is worth mentioning that, this thesis choose the museums as the objects of study inseparably because of its social attributes has closeness with culture. In a sense, it is not a building design principles research about museums,but a common features and universal principles revelation which culture has played in architecture, at this point, museums are regarded as a overall object of study. Discussing and focusing on the function of culture, this dissertation tyes to reveal the much more universal functionary characteristics, intermediate, acting elements of culture, and disclose the interactive process between architecture and culture. It is hopped that, under a broader cultural background, through the study of this thesis could do some best for architecture, generate and bring a positive impact and function in architectural design.
