With the development of the society, the improvement of people’s living standards, modern civil buildings are gradually developing in the direction of large span and tall, the frame structure of reinforced concrete column in the vertical load increases, so you have to control the axial compression ratio, in order to meet the requirements of corresponding building codes for member ductility, this will cause the frame column section increases, so easy to form in the bottom of the top or high-rise buildings of reinforced concrete short column. Short column shear generating brittle failure, is a big security hidden danger in the building structure, need of reinforced concrete short column reinforcement measures, to improve the ductility, the optimization of its seismic performance.This paper first introduces the development of reinforced concrete short column reinforcement measures at home and abroad and the research status, research has shown that the constraint of reinforced concrete filled steel tubular short column method, based on the empirical formula calculating the square steel tube constraint compression bearing capacity of normal section of reinforced concrete short column and the axial compression ratio under certain conditions, the shear bearing capacity of the horizontal loads, is under the influence of steel content parameters, its bearing capacity.
