Protection And Heritage Of The "Gray Space" Of The Zhangguying Ancient Architectural Complex

The Zhangguying ancientarchitecturalcomplex, which located in the north of Hunan Province, is filled with unique appearance and profound cultural connotations. It’s worthy of researching and exploring the excellent traditional culture, powerful family tradition and lots aspect of their values. The unique lifestyle and aesthetic taste are formed in the social condition among the large family. This thesis, firstly, expends the concept of "Grey Space" and the definition of Zhangguying village’s "Grey Space", and the analysis has been done based on lots of on-the-spot investigation, collected image sample and relevant research material. Secondly, based on the natural condition in which the Zhangguying village’s "Grey Space" formed, the humane value and ecological merit of the "Grey Space" must be found, summarized and concluded for inheriting the essence and core of ancient building after analyzing of the shape and revealing its essence。Finally, after learning from foreign lessons of relevant cases, principles and methods of how to protect and inherit the value of "Grey Space" has been provided, which can promote and inherit the culture of ancient building in Zhangguying village and give a reference to the design for the settlement construction of modern urbanization.
