Nowadays, the energy consumption of the domestic heat pump air conditioner andthe hot water maker is increasing rapidly, and has become the biggest two buildingenergy consumption. Faced with this situation, a multifunctional domestic heat pump airconditioner, which can continuously operation throughout the year is proposed. It hasseven independent modes: cooling and water heating mode, cooling only mode, waterheating mode, heating only mode, heating and water heating mode, dehumidificationmode and defrost mode respectively. The multifunctional system can improve themachine utilization rate, save energy and reduce the environmental pollution.Through analyzing the existed problems of air conditioning hot water system, anew system principle and theoretical calculation are described. System operationprocess of various modes is designed, the components of the system are matchingcalculated, and the empirical formulas are presented for molding production in thefuture. A prototype multifunctional system has been made and tested to observe itsfeasibility, reliability, system startup and running characteristics, etc. According to theaccuracy of test instruments, the system error is calculated.Through the test, the operating modes and corresponded control strategies aredetermined and improved. The experimental results show that under reasonable controlstrategies, the multifunctional domestic heat pump air conditioner can operatecontinuously and stably. It can not only meet annual cooling, heating anddehumidification functions, but also provide domestic hot water, while taking lowenergy consumption at night into account. The system has a high coefficient ofperformance, short startup time and can make hot water quickly in summer. Therefore,multifunctional heat pump air conditioner which is designed in this article for home usehas broad market prospects.Due to restrictions on experimental conditions, time and other factors, there aresome shortcomings. Such as the precise quantitative measurements of systemparameters and time of defrosting still need further research. However the purpose ofthis paper is to verify the feasibility of condensing heat recovery for domestic hot water,as well as provide a theoretical basis for the production of the multifunctional domesticheat pump air conditioner and provide a reference for the product market.
