When the aircraft re-entry the atmosphere, the phenomenon of blackout willappear. In the blackout area, the electromagnetic waves are entirely reflection orabsorption by the plasma slab, causing the lost of contact with the ground, so how tosolve the phenomenon of blackout is a big problem to domestic and internationalaerospace industry. Having a good understanding of electromagnetic transmission inplasma slab and the impact of various parameters of electromagnetic transmission inthe plasma sheath is the key to solve the blackout problem. In the study of electromagnetic characteristics of the re-entry plasma sheath, wefirst assumed the plasma electron density is uniform, for the plasma sheath withelectron density is non-uniform, a piecewise Epstein function is used to describe theelectron density profile of plasma sheath. For a uniform and non-uniform plasmasheath, we study the impact of the magnetic field exists or not exists to theelectromagnetic transmission in plasma slab. When discussing the plasma with the electron density is uniform distributed,we use the traditional theory. We can get the reflection and attenuation of theelectromagnetic transmission in plasma. When a magnetic field appears around theplasma sheath, magnetic field will change the transmission characteristics of theincident electromagnetic wave. The method of SMM is used to study theelectromagnetic characteristics of the re-entry plasma sheath with the plasmaelectron density is uniform.A piecewise Epstein function is used to describe the electron density profile ofplasma sheath, this distribution is closer to reality. The finite-differencetime-domain (FDTD) method using Z-transforms and traditional methods areutilized to simulate the characteristics EM waves in the plasma sheath.Through the research, we can have a good understanding of the infuluence ofthe plasma parameters to the characteristics of the incident electromagnetic wavetransmission through using the Matlab software. In practice, if we adjust theparameters appropriately, we will have a comprehensive understanding of electricaland magnetic properties of re-entry plasma slab, and hopping to provide a reference...
