With growth of China’s aging population, the number of aging population inminnan area, also known as south Fujian, ranks tops in domestic China, and it is alsobecoming a trend that the elderly prefer care facilities in late lives. With aging, it’slikely to develop illnesses for anyone, especially for the elderly. Generally, theelderly can’t response as timely as what the average people do, which makes themthe most potential victims when unpredictable danger or accident happens. Therefore,it’s quite urgent and meaningful to study on the design of care facility for the elderly,especially the safety evacuation design, which can better deal with emergencyconditions in real life and thus provide secure, reliable, accessible, life-support livingenvironment for the elderly.Based on psychology of aging, human engineering, praxeology, fire safetyscience and other relevant publications, the article is constructed on basis of specialpsychological and physiological status of the elderly. Considering the emergencyreactions of the elderly as the beginning point, the organization of evacuation isdiscussed by means of presenting various space layout and traffic organization.Current status of safety evacuation design, evacuation structure, and evacuation routedesign are presented, and current evacuation status and its problems of care facilityfor the elderly are analyzed from the perspective of an elderly in the article.According to the main factors that influence safety evacuation for the elderly,abnormal reactions when facing emergency and practical survey, the evacuation route,exits, alternative evacuation route, refuge floors and evacuation supporting facilities,etc. are discussed to work out a reasonable solution or strategy for safety evacuationdesign and refuge plan, which secure the elderly an effective evacuation route andrefuge, protecting them from being hurt. According to different heights of the carefacilities and different health status of the elderly, different evacuation status aresimulated. As the real escape routes and evacuation time are tracked, the evacuationtime for care facilities of different heights and design strategy are determined, so thatit concludes that design varies according to facilities of different heights in the article.
