With speeding up construction of China’s high-speed railway, the constant improvementof high-speed train operating speed, the Chinese gradually come into the high-speed railwayera, while with increase of the speed, the safety of train operation has become an importantproblem for the whole society. The creep behavior between wheel and rail has a directlyimpact on traction and braking performance, it’s very important that accurate control the creepcharacteristics between wheel and rail for railway safety. The good performance of thewheel/rail creep has a very important role in the mitigation of the wheel/rail contact fatigue,reduction of wheel/rail noise and avoiding of the train derailment.For decades, the wheel/rail rolling contact theory, i.e., the wheel/rail creep theorybecome more and more perfect, which has made a great progress on the analysis of rollingcontact problems. However, the theory can not be used to solve the problems of two-pointcontact and conformal contact when rolling contact and others, so the actual contactconditions can not be accurately simulated. The finite element method of rolling contact makea breakthrough over the limitations of classical theory, and the finite element model ofwheel/rail rolling contact is established with real geometrical, boundary conditions and others,which can be used to accurate analysis the creep characteristics of rolling contact, thewheel/rail rolling contact mechanics analysis come into a new era.In this paper, the analysis object is LMAtread wheelset on CRH2and CHN60rail, byusing the method of mixed Lagrangian/Eulerian with nonlinear finite element softwareABAQUS to establish the large-scale finite element steady-state model of wheel/rail rollingcontact, in which the wheel grid is described by Eulerian, rail using Lagrangian method todescribe, the grid of wheel relative to rail is static. Based on the model, the creepcharacteristics of wheel/rail contact are analysed in different attack angle, different lateraldisplacement, different friction coefficient, different axle load and different conditions at aspeed of200km/h, and the changes of the longitudinal creep force and creepage, lateral creepforce and creepage, spin creep are discussed. At the same time, taking into account the actualfriction coefficient of wheel/rail contact is constantly changing, the paper abandon commonCoulomb friction coefficient model, and the function type friction coefficient model isselected to analyze wheel/rail steady rolling creep characteristics under the condition of creeptraction in dry. The wheel/rail steady rolling contact problem is calculated byABAQUS/Standard implicit solver, and the results are pass to ABAQUS/Explicit module toanalyze the transient problem of wheel/rail contact, the changes of creep force of wheel/rail contact zone are discussed in different friction coefficient, different axle load. All of theresearches ahead provide a theoretical basis for high-speed wheel/rail rolling contact study.
