In the1970s, the concept of resonant converter was put forward by Americanscholars, but at that time the design of this converter is limited by theunderdevelopment of power electronic technology, so there’s a long time beforeapplying it to the corresponding product. Benefiting from the rapid development ofthe power electronic devices and VLSI emerging in large numbers at the turn of thecentury, resonant converter began to widely apply to all kinds of electronic products.The advantages of resonant power supply are continuously obvious because morehigher requests are put forward when the scientists design modern power supply suchas power density, volume, efficiency, EMI, and other relevant aspects.These requestsexactly accelerate the developing rate of designing harmonic power supply,This article is about designing an efficient LLC digital power supply based ondigital power controller ADP1046A produced by ADI company that gives the productthe characteristics of high efficiency, good dynamic performance. The design includestwo parts, hardware and software. Meanwhile, in order to validate the feasibility ofthe main circuit parameters, the simulation of LLC resonant converter circuit has to befinished before designing the experiment circuit board. Below are the intros of thedesign in three aspects which include the simulation, hardware and software toimplement efficient LLC digital power supply.In the simulation, this paper proposes a method to calculate harmonic parameters.In order to verify the feasibility of the parameters of the design, open loop simulationexperiments are needed by using SABER software first. The purpose of simulation ismaking the main circuit parameters meet the requests of primary-side switch for zerovoltage switching (ZVS) and a secondary-side rectifier for zero current switching(ZCS).And then it comes to the control circuit part which includes the drive pulsegenerating module, a dead zone module, feedback module, of cause before using them,designer has to make sure that each module has been verified.In the hardware circuit, the design of the main transformer, switch device selection, and thedesign of the driving circuit are mainly included. In terms of the design of the primary-side switch driver, drive ICs with isolation Booster function are employed to drive primary-side switch, whilethe secondary-side employs simple feasible Booster driver ICs.The software design includes main circuit parameter Settings, operating frequency range anddead band time Settings, the former vice edge of over-current, over-voltage protection Settings, etc.
