While the wheels running on the track it would generate heat between wheel and rail dueto the friction, on the one hand, the heat would cause surface scratches or peeling on thewheel tread and rail tread, shorten the life of them, on the other hand, for the dangerous workconditions (including explosive gas environment), the accumulation of heat may producehigh temperature hot surfaces, friction sparks, and may cause an explosion hazard. Therefore,it is necessary to make a research for the friction of wheel and rail to solve the aboveproblems. One important means to study is using simulation test device, therefore,developing a wheel-rail friction testing device for laboratory using is very necessary. Thistopic has been funding by AQSIQ science and technology projects which named "Thedevelopment of explosion-proof crane wheel-rail friction test device (ID:2011QK322)".This paper focuses on the development of crane wheel-rail friction simulation test devicewhich is used to simulation the dangerous working conditions including sliding condition,slipping condition in the same place, gnawing rail condition, the impact condition over therail in the interface and so on. It analyzes the geometry characteristic of crane wheels andrails, and selects the wheel-rail structures for device design. Using wheel-rail friction contacttheory, it analyze and determine dangerous working conditions and the form for device tosimulate; then determine the final program for simulation device by the three evaluationcriteria. At last, design the mechanical structure of the test device to ensure thereasonableness of the core components, and design the hardware and software of controlsystem to ensure that test equipment is meet the requirements.Finally using the crane wheel-rail friction device to make an simulation experiment fortemperature research. First, to simulate four dangerous working conditions of cranewheel-rail to confirm this device right, and second make a temperature test to get thetemperature curve of class normal conditions; And then make a ANSYS simulation andexperimental research for the temperature of crane in full sliding condition which get thehighest temperature data and spark phenomenon at different running speeds. From the result,it concludes that the wheel-rail in this condition is easy to produce some high temperature hotsurfaces and friction sparks, so crane should avoid this condition actually. At the same time, simulation data show: the use of ANSYS software can simulate the temperature rise of thecrane wheel-rail friction study, which can get preliminary data.
