With the development of automotive industry, automotive NVH performance which has paidwide attention to people has gradually become another important performance index after theeconomy and safety of the fuel.Steering system is an important part of the automobile. Its kinematicsand dynamics performance have an important impact on the stability, safety and the ride comfort ofthe automobile. The more increasing demands for NVH of a car, the more researchers’ attentionshould be put on the nibble of the steering wheel. Vibration analysis and optimization are given in thispaper regarding on the nibble of the steering wheel of an automobile.In this paper, the unbalance mass of the wheel acted on the wheel were analyzed and so did eachforce acted on the motioned wheel. The small movements of the double wishbone independentsuspension in the static equilibrium position were analyzed. The integrated model including thesteering system, wheels and suspension was established. It can be decrypted by MKC. In this article,the practical structure of the steering system is simplified and then the model of nibble of the steeringwheel is established. Using the matlab software, vibration modal analysis of nibble of the steeringwheel is completed and the effect of mass and stiffness matrix on sensitivity of inherent frequenciesare analyzed.The optimization method of orthogonal test of six factors and five levels improve the naturalfrequency of nibble of the steering wheel. Analyses of the factors that affect the natural frequencieshas been to guidance for the steering system design. Optimal composition that optimized steeringsystem is based on the target frequency15Hz.In this article, model of mass spring and damp of nibble of the steering wheel isestablished.According to the natural model and sensitivity analysis for the model, a modulatedmethod which offers some reference and gist for solving problems of nibble of the steering wheel isproposed.
