Piezoelectric transducer is a kind of actuator which relies on the piezoelectric effect ofpiezoelectric materials to achieve mutual conversion between power and mechanical energy.Piezoelectric transducers are the primary elements in ultrasonic technology, which have great varieties,extensive application. And they will have broad application prospects in the micro/nano field tomanipulate micro/nano-scale objects. This project research on the small objects motion characteristicsdriven by L-shape piezoelectric transducer. The following are the primary content:The related researches introducing present situation of micro/nano-scale objects manipulation bypiezoelectric transducer is introduced. We also introduce piezoelectric driving technology and theresearch purpose and significance of this project.Through experimental measurement and theoretical analysis, we investigate the principle ofrotation of micro particles around a nodal point of flexurally vibrating metal strip of L-shapepiezoelectric transducer. It is found that there are two local travelling waves with the same travellingdirection existing along the circle centered at the nodal point of flexural vibration, and these travellingwaves may drive small particles to rotate at the nodal point.The characteristics of radical motion of small particles around a nodal point on the metal plateare investigated. We confirm that small particles moving to nodal point caused by impact betweensmall particles and metal strip. The influence of amplitude of metal strip, initial position of smallparticles and surface roughness of metal strip to average radial velocity of small particles areinvestigated.We also investigate some rotation characteristics of small mechanical components such as bars,bar composites, disk and cogwheel. It is found that revolution speed of the small mechanicalcomponents is affected by the metal strip vibration and the structure and size of the small mechanicalcomponents. And the driving torque on the small disk is estimated.The principle of manipulation micro objects driven by L-shape piezoelectric transducer has beenunderstood. We present the future research program on the application of L-shape piezoelectrictransducer.
