Keeping structures from collapsing becomes important for the structure designers,in order to facilitate more in-depth study on the structure of academic anti-collapsemethods,we need to describe the collapse of the structure by using a more reasonablestructural collapse evaluation criteria. Lots of criterions are proposed, but how tochoose the criteria of collapse is not conclusive in practice, Thus, a proper creterion todetermine the collapse of a building structure is badly wanted. The existing criterions to determine the collapse of a building structure are analyzedand summarized, choosing the categories criteria of collapsed. And numericalsimulation of a struture, which based on a pseudo dynamic test of a reinforced concreteframe sturure, is modeled by the software Opensees to find out a more proper criterion. The IDA(Incremental dynamic analysis) analysis is also conducted in a plane framewith5-layer and3-span. The collapsing point of the IDA criterions is esxpected to befound during the numerical simulation. After that, the intensity of every ground motioncan be confirmed. With the confirmed ground motions, the elastic-plastic dynamicanalysis of the structure can be proceeded, and criterions more proper to determine thecollapse of a building structure can be tested. Here are the main conclusions of this article:①Four kinds of criteria can determine the level of the plastic development degreeof the structure to a certain extent for reinforced concrete frame structure, but not allcan accurately explain the structure into the collapse or near collapse point;②the capacity of resisting collapse will be conservatively evaluated when usingthe deformation-based criterion(inter-story drift limit of1/50). Structural damage willbe conservatively evaluated when the stiffness-based(GU Xianglin proposed criteria)criterion is used. the real collapse point can be precisely evaluated when using thecriterion based on both maximum displacement and energe(Park-Ang proposedcriteria), it can tell whether a structure collapse or not in some degree. Structuraldamage will also be conservatively evaluated in the IDA-based criterion(ATC-63proposed criteria).③In this paper, the deformation-based criterion and the stiffness–based criterionwhich calculation is more convenient, but can’t reflect the collapse, the two criterioncan be used if the calculation does not need too precise. The IDA-based criterion based on the most complex computation, but can determine whether the structure is moreaccurate in the calculation of collapse, require a more precise conditions this criterioncan be used to select the target. The criterion based on both maximum displacementand energe which calculation is complex, but it can more accurately determine whetherthe structure collapsed,if the calculation requires more precise, this can serve as acriterion to select.
