High-speed sliding electrical contact is a kind of dynamic electric contact, which hasbeen widely used in the high-speed electrified railway systems, aerospace and other fields.In dynamic electric contact, the mechanical and electrical phenomenas occured in thecontact area are extremly complex. Contact surface temperature, which is one of theimportant parameters to describe sliding electrical contact condition, has great effect onthe performance of electrical contact and friction and wear of contact member. Theresearch object of this paper is high speed sliding electrical contact, which is in the largecurrent and electromagnetic environment. So the temperature effect on the surface of theelectrical contact and the transient high temperature measurement technology based on theprinciple of infrared radiation are mainly studied, and a high speed sliding electricalcontact tester is used to conduct related experiments. According to the experimental results,the thermal analysis on the contact surface was carried out.According to the interface temperature effect in the high-speed sliding electricalcontact, this paper focus analyzed the heating effect of the current, friction and arc on thecontact area, and established relevant mathematical model. On the basis of this model, thetemperature information under different load current and different sliding distance wassimulated, and the effect of transient current load on contact surface’temperature. The hightemperature condition in high-speed sliding electrical contact elements was carried on thefinite element simulation, and the slider and slide rail interface dynamic temperaturedistribution was gived. According to this basis, the temperature fields at different locationof the slide rail and sliding block material surface were analyzed on the priciple of heattransfer, the effect of transient temperature on the contact member were found out.A high temperature measurement system was designed based on the principle ofinfrared radiation, which can realize non-contact measurement. In addition, this systemrealized the collection of the transient signal and enhancement of system anti-jammingcapability by adopting isolation conversion technology and high-speed data acquisitionunit. Considering most of influence factors on contact surface temperature in the high-speed sliding electrical contact, the paper formulated corresponding experimentscheme, and conducted a lot of experiments at a high speed sliding electrical contacttesting machine. Temperature datas of different experimental conditions were analyzedin-depth, temperature characteristic of the sliding electrical contact area under transienthigh current load characterized.
