Through several stages development of container transportation, itbecomes the most common way for international transportation. As theparticular berthing terminals for the container vessels, also have beendeveloped quickly and rapidly all over the world. Especially with theglobal economic prosperity and the increase of the international trade, thecontainer vessel has already developed to the six generation and thecapacity has already exceeded14,000TEU. And the container terminalsare trend to be bigger, deeper and more and more types. The diaphragm wall was developed fast and spread to everywhere ofthe world since it was first adopted in1950s from Italy. It becomes moreand more thick and deeper and deeper. According to its characteristic, it iswidely used as the temporary retaining wall and now it is more and moreused as the part of the structure or the main structure. From the practices of the Port Said East Container Terminal, thispaper respectively presents the selection of the foundation, the design ofthe diaphragm wall, trial grab, decision of the method, typicalconstruction and technical optimization. It provides a good technical andpractice support for the similar terminal development. This project emphasized the design and the construction of theT-shaped diaphragm wall. Especially under the soft geological conditions, how to satisfy the requirement of the load and how to make sure the goodflow of the construction. Through the model building and the siteconstruction, proved that the T-shaped diaphragm wall application incontainer terminal was successful and it could be one option for the futurecontainer terminal development.
