Heavy-duty truck has been widely used in construction, transportation etc. for its largeamount, low cost, highefficiency and so on. In rencent years, as the increase of high-speed andheavy load demand, heavy-duty truck’s accidents have occurred frenquently, which ceratedlarge loss for lives and property. And the problem of its active and passive safety has becomemore obvious. So it has a great significance to establish an effective monitoring system fortrucks real-time on-line monitoring and improving the heavy-duty’s running safety.In the research background of heavy-duty truck’s safe operation and combining modernsensor technology and virtual instrument technology, this paper develops a heavy-duty truckvehicle electronic safety monitoring system by using the advantage of virtual instrument suchas efficient graphical source code, fast data acquisition, strong data processing ability, highautomaticity, etc. The system can real-time monitor the vehicle operation condition and storethe relevant parameter data, which provides the basis for subsequent query maintenance oraccident treatment.This paper first analyzed investigation status of vehicle data recorder at home and abroadand the existing technology of weighing, ranging and tire pressure monitoring, on which thesystem general scheme was put forward. According to the requirements of the system and thescheme, the system hardware was designed. The system hardware design mainly includes themonitoring principle, sensor selection and signal conditioning circuit of each function modules;CAN-RS232interface conversion circuit; the determination of data acquisition card and itsinstallation and testing.Based on the hardware design, the paper also carried out the system software design.Using LABVIEW2012runing on Windows as software platform, the paper adopted modulardesign ideals and finished the software design of each function modules, mainly including usermanagement, data acquisition ang processing, vehicle safety monitoring interface design anddatabase design. The whole system realized the function of system login, user management,data acquisition ang processing, the real-time running state monitoring, weighing, ranging, tirepressure monitoring, data storage and query and so on.By the system debugging and analysis, the results show that the system is stable andreliable and the design is Thedesign is reasonable and feasible. The system can realize theestablished function, achieve the desired effect, basically completed the design of vehicleelectronic safety monitoring system.
