The connection of automotive metal sheets is an important production process inautomobile manufacturing. Mechanical clinching technology which has incomparableadvantages over traditional processes is an advanced technology of the connection ofautomotive metal sheets. Mechanical clinching technology is a cold extrusion technique and ithas a simple process but complex forming mechanism. As the application of mechanicalclinching technology becomes more and more widely, how to control the quality ofconnection point effectively and efficiently becomes a problem to be solved. At present, themarket of quality monitoring systems of mechanical clinching is almost entirely occupied byforeign brands, domestic research in this area is nearly blank. The focus of this paper is theresearch and development of the quality monitoring system of mechanical clinching withintellectual property right which can monitor the process of mechanical clinching in real-timeand evaluate the quality of connection point effectively.The quality monitoring system designed in this paper is constituted by two parts, dataacquisition module and data processing module. Data acquisition module adoptsSTM32F103VET6as main controller, uses C programming language, and mainly realizes thefunction of data acquisition, analog to digital conversion and alarm signal output. Dataacquisition module can acquisite common forms of industrial signals, especially for thedisplacement signal, it can acquisite from motor encoder or displacement sensor, and this isone of the highlights of this paper. Analog-to-digital conversion chip adopts ADS8341whichhas16-bit precision. Data acquisition module can protect the mould effectively with thefunction of pressure transfinite alarm. Data processing module adopts TQ210developmentboard as hardware platform, uses the Windows CE embedded operating system and C#programming language, and mainly realizes the function of data processing, human-machineinterface display and data storage. Data processing module can display pressure-displacementcurve in real-time, using window monitoring methods as a quality evaluation method. In addition, a reliable communication protocols between data processing module and dataacquisition module is designed.Experiments show that quality monitoring systems of mechanical clinching designed inthis paper can achieve the desired objectives: monitoring the process of clinching in real-timeand assessing the quality of connection point effectively. Finally, in order to convert thequality monitoring systems of mechanical clinching to practical products faster, this paperprovides product design for reference.
