Composite materials are wildly applied in the field of aero vehicle structural design. To meetthe design requirement, open-holes are inevitable in structures. Therefore, the problem of openingstrengthening receives large concerns. In such area, lots of analysis has been carried out both athome and abroad. At present, the principle research method is the combination of theoreticalanalysis and experimental verification. The research is mainly concentrate on single openingstrengthening, using unique kind of strengthening method and material. Furthermore,experimental verification has only been made with strengthen laminate under single load case.Thus, there is no systematic reference for the optimization of composite opening strengtheningdesign, especially for composite laminates under different load, and composite laminates withdifferent strengthening methods and materials.In this paper, composite laminates with two shape of opening are chosen as the object of designand analysis. Furthermore, two materials, three strengthening types are selected for the openingstrengthening subjecting under different load cases. According to design parameters in differentstrengthening plans, different variables are chosen to conduct optimization design, which aims thelowest structure weight. In the optimization, NSGA-II arithmetic in modeFrontier software isapplied to solute the geometric parameters and ply contents of patch and strengthening zone. Afterreceiving the optimum solution for composite opening strengthening, strength analysis has beenmade to optimum structures by applying Hashin principle. The result shows optimum planscontribute a lot to weight loss under the conformation of strength requirement. In a conclusion,method provided in this paper for the optimization design of composite open-hole strengtheninghas practical value in engineering application, which can be used to address the problems of otherstructural open-hole strengthening.
