Lube oil system was one of the most important parts of the aviation engine. Can it stable andefficient operation often determined the efficiency and life of the aeroengine. When oil circulatedin the system, it was able to take away the heat and impurities from the dual friction surface. If thelubricants cannot be cooled timely, it becomes invalid and cannot play the role of lubrication andcooling. In order to ensure the stability of the system, the invalid lubricating oil need be replacedfrequently; otherwise it would cause the accident, the staff would be death, the economy would lose.Lubricants need to be cooled timely. Fuel/oil heat sink as the most common heat exchangerwas used in almost all engines. Therefore, whether the heat exchanger could be highly efficient andstable operated determines the stability of the oil system. With the development of the technology, light weight, compact structure, stable and efficient heat exchangers were manufactured. The new materials of metal foam and the traditional serrated fins were researched andanalyzed. When the fuel and oil flows through the metal foam or the serrated fins, the flow field, pressure loss and the efficiency of heat transfer would be obtained by numerical simulation.According to the calculation results, the metal foam and the serrated fins were compared. The20ppimetal foam was selected as the enhanced heat transfer fin structure by results. The heat exchanger core was designed, using the20ppi metal foam as the enhanced heattransfer fin structure. Porous medium boundary conditions were used when the numericalsimulation was conducted. The temperature difference, heat transfer and pressure loss was analyzedon the fuel side and the oil side. The analysis of the overall performance of the heat exchanger wasalso conducted by the same method.
