For the multi-power ICPT system, the output power requirements for differentloads are different, so the variety of load could affect the output power of system.Traditional ICPT system usually uses single coil structure for primary power transmittercoil, the coil design only considers the maximum power requirements of load, and thephase shifting and frequency conversion control method are usually used for primarypower transmitter to fulfill the various requirements of output power. For the differentsize of load at different power level, the region uncovered by load existselectromagnetic leakage with the single coil structure, which will reduce the systemtransfer efficiency and cause potential safety problem for people and metal foreignobjects, and the decreased efficiency problem couldn’t be solved by improving controlmethod or optimizing system parameters. Based on the existing problem above, thispaper uses coil design and optimization method for power transfer coil, to improve thesystem transfer efficiency and reduce the electromagnetic leakage.This paper is based on the power transmitter coil design of ICPT system, and themain tasks include the following:①The basic principle, system structure and main circuit of multi-power ICPTsystem were introduced in the paper, then several efficiency optimization method formulti-power ICPT system were compared and analyzed, and the optimization method inthis paper was established based on the optimization of power transmitter coil structure.②Aimed at the design and optimization of primary power transmitter coil, theinfluence parameters on system efficiency, structure of electromagnetic couplingmechanism, influence factors on self inductance and mutual inductance of coil andelectromagnetic shielding methods were analyzed respectively.③The coil design flow of ICPT system was introduced, and the JMAG simulationmodel was established based on the power transmitter coil with single coil structure,then the electromagnetic shielding was optimized by two aspects of magnetic materialshielding (including the arrangement and thickness of magnetic bars) and aluminumshielding (including the thickness and location of aluminum).④The power transmitter coil with dual coil structure was accomplished, and thesimulation and modeling for heating load such as rice cooker and motor load such asblender with different size were established, and compared with power transmitter with single coil structure, the coil transfer efficiency was improved, especially for the loadwith smaller size. Besides, the horizontal leakage magnetic field of power transmittercoil was reduced effectively, and the horizontal safety distance could be satisfied.Therefore, the improvement of system performance with dual coil structure was verifiedeffectively.
