Abstract/Summary:
Nowadays, the entire world advocates low-carbon lifestyle today with the increasing of serious energy crisis. Zinc-air battery, which becomes the focus of the global energy field, has great market potential, due to its high-capacity, high efficiency, low cost, cleaning, pollution-free, safety and renewability, etc.Based on the previous studies, this paper has done some research on zinc-air batteries as following:The catalytic layer is made of activated carbon (41%), acetylene black (10%), catalyst (17%), PTFE (32%) and the waterproof breathable layer consists of acetylene black (60%) and PTFE (40%). The air electrode is comprised of the two layers, based on which the zinc-air battery is designed and assembled. The electrochemical tests on the battery demonstrates that the production of single cell has a higher output voltage, and the load voltage is larger than 1.4V, besides, the voltage could be kept higher than 1V when the discharge current density is 130mA/cm2. The anode consumption rate of discharging is 95.4%, and the discharge efficiency is up to 93.12%. The experimental results show that compared with the battery based on the traditional manganese catalyst, the zinc-air battery demonstrates a batter performance. The battery pack consisted of zinc-air battery could discharge 1000 hours with light bulbs (3W) and motors (1W) as load. The zinc-air battery keeps stable, and the air electrode is in good condition throughout.
