Magnesium alloys have been extensively applied in automotive, 3C(Computer,Communication, Consumer), electronic and aircraft industies. However, its lower strength and creep resistance the low room temperature mechanical properties, poor thermal resistance of magnesium alloys, which is the main factor of limiting its the development and application.Studies have shown that adding rare earth in magnesium alloy has a good solid solution strengthening and age-hardening effect, it can effectively improve the mechanical properties of magnesium alloys.Ultrasonic treatment as a kind of auxiliary way is now widely used in various fields of material processing. For melting steel or aluminum,ultrasonic treatment can rise to homogenization organization, promote the gas discharge, reduce the melt impurities,Mechanical Properties of alloys has improved.This paper has studied the effect of doping Y and Gd misch metal on the microstructure and mechanical property of AM60 B alloy, tested the mechanical Properties of alloy at different temperatures and observed the structure of the Organization by adding mixed rare earth and solid solution treatment, molten ultrasonic processing, discusses its influence on mechanical properties of the alloy.which may be used as a reference for improving the heat resistance performance of Mg-Al Alloys and expanding the usage scope of magnesium alloy.Study showed that the mixed rare earth content is 1.6% without ultrasonic batch sample, AM60 B magnesium alloy in the tensile strength of 249.9 MPa, the elongation of10.2%, and after solid solution treatment, the tensile strength is 263 MPa, the elongation of 11.7%. For mixed rare earth content is 1.9% after molten ultrasonic processing samples. The tensile strength and the elongation of alloy reach the maximum value, and the peak value are 257.1MPa and12.4% respectively. When its after solid solution treatment, the tensile strength at 277.9 MPa, the elongation of 14.7% at the same time.It is considered that rare earth Y and Gd can effectively improves the tensile Strength and ductility of AM60 B magnesium alloy due to the effects of solid-solution strengthening, Precipitation strengthening and fine-grained strengthening.
