In this paper, modified graphene and graphene films were by prepared and the effect of surface functional groups to the anti friction properties of graphene films was discussed under different circumstances; the tribological properties of modified graphene as lubricant oil additives were explained.Graphene oxide(GO) was prepared by the Hummers method and graphene oxide were modified to NRGO and ODA-GO thought ethylenediamine(EDA) and octadecylamine(ODA). The graphene oxide films and amino-modified graphene films were deposited on silicon substrate by electrophoretic deposition method. The tribo logical behaviovs of the graphene film was evaluated on MFT-3000 rotary friction wear tester and non-contact 3D profiler. The surface morphology and structure of graphene films were investigated with SEM, FTIR and Raman. The MFT-4000 friction wear tester and 3D profilometry were used to check friction properties of ODA-GO as lubricant oil additives. The graphene films could be deposited by electrophoretic deposition on silicon substrate thought controlling the deposition voltage and grahene solution concentration. The minimum friction coefficient of graphene films was reduced to 0.079 and the wear volume was reduced to 2 orders of magnitude; The GO films were almost failure in water because of the strongly water polar, however, The NRGO films still showed excellent tribological performance; ODA-GO-PAO10 had the lowest friction coefficient when 1% content of ODA-GO added in the lubricant oil; in the same concentration ODA-GO-PAO10 system, friction coefficient increaseed with the the load increasing. Graphene had excellent anti friction properties both as a thin solid films and an lubricant oil additives.
