With the improvement of people’s living standards, people had many requirements on interior decoration of house. In order to meet different aspects of performance of latex paint, kinds of interior latex paint products emerged in endlessly. Because of latex paint would be polluted in the process of application, such as dust, dirt and stains, walls need be scrubed aperiodically. Therefore, the scrub reistance is an important property to evaluate latex paint. For this purpose, this dissertation studied systematically the effects of type and content of latex, pigment and filler on the scrub resistance of latex paint, and prepared economical scrub resistance latex paint and economical formaldehyde-removing scrub resistance latex paint. The research results are below.(1) The scrub resistance of latex paint prepared by different polymer emulsions was as below: Acrylic latex>Styrene-acrylic latex>Vinyl acetate-acrylic latex>PVA latex>VAE latex. The smaller the paricle size and the more the content of polymer emulsion, the better the scrub reistance of latex paint.(2) The glass transition temperature of emulsion polymer has effect on the scrub reistance of latex paint. When Tg is less than 30 ℃, the scrub reistance of latex paint was improved with the increase of glass transition temperature. When Tg is 30 ℃, the performance of the scrub reistance of latex paint was the best. Above 30 ℃, the scrub reistance of latex paint was decreased with the increase of glass transition temperature.(3) In the test of six kinds of pigments and fillers, latex paint prepared by high hardness wollastonite had the best scrub reistance performance. With the increase of particle size of wollastonite, the scrub reistance of latex paint increased. And with the increase of 3% per, the scrub reistance could be improved by 200 times. But the surface roughness of latex paint was obviously worse, the density increased and the hiding power decreased. Therefore, when the content of wollastonite was about 3%, the comprehensive performance of the prerared latex paint was the best.(4) The styrene acrylic with aldehyde-removing monomer AAEM was synthesized and latex paint prepared by aldehyde-removing styrene acrylic was prepared. The final formaldehyde-removing rate of the paint film got 75%. And the cotent of aldehyde-removing monomer AAEM had no effect on the scrub resistance of latex paint.(5) Under the best conditions, the paint sample performance, paint film performance and construction performance of the economical scrub resistance latex paint and the economical formaldehyde-removing scrub resistance latex paint were excellent. Not only had all the characteristics of common interior latex paint, but also the scrub resistance performance was close to 900 times, far higher than the requirement of national standard(about 300 times). The interior latex paint with aldehyde-removing function could also remove the interior decoration pollution and continuously absorbe formaldehyde. Therefore, it could be widely used in interior wall building decoration.
